Eye illnesses and aliments have affected people for centuries. Allot of these problems can be avoided if we just take notice of our eyes. You can usually tell if your eyes are being overworked. If you feel your eyes being straining, then you could be damaging them. Think of it in the same way as lifting heavy boxes. When your arms become tired and strain, you stop and take a break. This goes the same way for the eyes, in times of heavy work and strain, you need to take some time out.
All the small muscles that make up our eyes, is what is responsible for altering the size of the lens to help us to see clearly. The question is: how relaxed are your eyes right now? Do you feel any strain reading this article? IS it difficult to focus on each word? What about your facial expression, are you smiling and relaxed or are you frowning and really having to concentrate hard? If this is the case then you need to let your eye muscles relax as soon as possible.
It’s quite surprising that even thoughts affect our eyesight. Thinking happy thoughts or pleasant memories make our eyes more relaxed and as a result we can focus more easily. This is because when the eyes muscles are relax they move much more smoothly, so we can see more clearly. In the opposite way negative thoughts can cause the eyes to strain and stare, making for very jerky movements that hurt the eyes.
Your eyes can’t lie to you. If they hurt or feel tense behind the eyes, this just means your eyes need to relax. If you feel acing behind the eyes, this means that the eyes are overworked and are getting strained. This is sign that the eyes need to rest.
Once the eyes are in a relaxed state it only takes 15-20 minutes to be fairly well rested. When the eyes are relaxed they can focus better and give you better clarity of the things you are reading or looking at.
To relax your eyes, simply close them and think about the darkness in front of you. Avoid thinking about negative thoughts and stressful thing, and concentrate on positive and pleasant things. Think of a relaxing situation, like sitting on the beach, listening to the waves crashing on the shore, with you favourite cold drink in your hand. Keep thinking about as many pleasant memories as possible for the entire 15-20 minutes. Then open your eyes, you will feel a lot more relaxed and the eyes will be more focused.
On a final note, remember to keep listening to what your eyes are saying and take some time out to relax them once in a while when their tired. If you keep practicing taking time out to rest your eyes, this will help you achieve better vision for years to come.
